Report a factual concern

Email corrections@calgarynewslive.ca with the article URL, the wording you believe is wrong, the correct information and any supporting evidence. Calgary News Live reviews each concern on its merits. Material factual errors are corrected clearly and without charge.

How corrections are intended to appear

When a story needs to be corrected after publishing, that change is intended to be shown plainly on the story itself, rather than edited away without notice. A material correction is meant to stay visible, not disappear once fixed. A correction notice remains attached to the article it describes — it is not a separate, disconnected record a reader has to go looking for.

Corrections, clarifications and updates are not the same

An update adds new, developing information as a story continues. A clarification restates something that was already accurate but could be read unclearly. A correction fixes something that was factually wrong in what was already published. The three are intended to be labelled differently, so a reader can tell at a glance which one they’re looking at — and none of them is ever meant to silently change what a story already said.

If an article is ever retracted

If an article ever needs to be retracted, its page and public record are intended to remain reachable, with a clear, prominent notice explaining the retraction — a retraction is not intended to make an article disappear or erase that it was ever published.
